Ajang bergengsi Academy Awards ke-94 resmi digelar di Teater Dolby, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, California, AS. Film CODA menjadi pemenang penghargaan Best Picture di pagelaran tersebut.
Bukan hanya nominasi Best Picture, dua penghargaan dan menjadi pemenang Oscar 2022 lainnya juga disabet oleh film CODA. Ada pun di antaranya yakni Best Supporting Actor untuk aktor pria, Troy Kotsur dan nominasi Best Adapted Screenplay.
“CODA adalah pemenang besar malam itu, memenangkan ketiga penghargaan yang dinominasikannya: Film Terbaik, Aktor Pendukung Terbaik untuk Troy Kotsur, dan Skenario Adaptasi Terbaik,” tulis Newsweek dikutip pada, Senin (28/3/22).
Menariknya Troy Kotsur dinobatkan menjadi aktor tuli pertama yang bisa merengkuh Piala Oscar. Khusus bagi CODA, gelar Piala Oscar juga menjadikan mereka sebagai film streamer pertama yang memenangkan Academy Awards tersebut.
Beberapa kategori lainnya yang menjadi Pemenang Oscar 2022 yaitu Best Actor yang dimenangkan oleh Will Smith dalam penampilannya di film King Richard sebagai Richard Williams. Hingga Best Film Editing yang disematkan pada Film Dune.
Film Dune juga bisa disebut sebagai peraih penghargaan terbanyak di gelaran Oscar 2022. Selain Best Film Editing, Dune juga memenangkan lima gelar lainnya seperti, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Production Design hingga Best Visual Effects.
“Dune meraih penghargaan terbanyak malam itu, memenangkan enam dari 10 nominasinya,” jelas Newsweek.
